The Future is Created Today

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day crises of running your business of life. But you have to stay on track and make sure you’re guiding things in the direction you want. How do you do that?

Some would say, “Make a Direction list”

But…. what if you’re not sure where you want to go?

So, today I am going to talk about what and why one should be doing today to have a future that one aspires for

Here’s one thing I do when I’m trying to get a perspective on my major direction — I read obituaries in the newspaper.

Especially if they’re someone around my age.

Some are sad stories of lives half-lived. Others are amazing tales that seem like they’d make a good novel!

Our lives are of varying lengths, and we never know how long they’ll be. So, it’s important to move in the right direction.

Before time runs out.

This is actually real. There is no arriving, no destination except for the one place we’re all going.

The place where someone else is opening the paper and reading our obituary. Before that, it’s all a journey.

Reading obituaries leads me to so many questions about my own life that help shape my direction list:

  • What are my notable accomplishments, if you had to sum them up in a few short sentences?
  • Have I been the best son, husband or father I could be?
  • Am I making a positive difference in this world?
  • Does the way I spend my time now lead me in the direction I want to go?

These are questions that must be asked and answered to yourself.

Everybody wants a life that is full of life, fun and vigour. We need to realise that our present is dictated by the choices that we made in the past. It is a build-up of all these choices that have made us who we are today.

It is tempting to say ‘No, I had no choice’ but the truth is that you always do have a choice. Many of us live in the past either in regret or trying to relive those past glories. But the past is fixed. It’s not changing. It’s gone. Its dead. You cannot bring it back or revive it, but YES, you can learn from it.

Today I want to share with you this learning and realisation and make you realize that your current situation or current reality is a combination of choices you made about three years back. So, you can STOP and realise that every choice you make today, will affect your life 3 years from now.

You must understand how you are spending your time today. Are you just sitting on a couch with a slice of pizza in one hand and a soft drink can in the other and watching some show on the TV? OR You might be just wasting your time on social media watching irrelevant reels on Instagram of unknown people or even just pressing the ‘LIKE’ button on useless posts.

Put a question to yourself. How are they impacting you or making a difference in your life?

Because your answer will also help you decide your future.

And no matter how big or small, these things create your future.

This realisation is very important. As a study abroad expert I want you to have an amazing future full of love and happiness. Each choice that you make today onwards, do it with the future in mind. Think about how these choices are making you better or making you retard. Three years hence, what will your life look like based on this choice that you made NOW.

So, your simple habit creates a better, more elevated future than your present and starts by recognising that every action and thought from today has an impact on a few years down the line.

Create the habit of asking yourself, ‘Is this action serving me or taking me away from my potential?

You have so much to create yet. Focus on the choices of today.

CONCLUSION

All our dreams and our aspirations can only come true if we do something about them. The essence lies in ‘ACTION’. When do we start?

One should not expect immediate results. Our future will be dependent on the actions or choices that we make today. Just like the title of today’s podcast ‘Future is created Today and not Tomorrow’

If you want a bright future then you need to act now, not tomorrow or the next week. Time is the essence here. Losing a day, a week, or a few months can significantly affect your future. So, stop wasting your days. Make it happen today!
